About

Who in the world is prototype27?

I’m a music geek who writes this blog.  More specifically, I’m a college student studying math (probably uninteresting to you) and music (which is likely more relevant).  I like almost all types of music, though there notable exceptions in country and commercial rap.

I’m most familiar with late 90′s and early 00′s pop/rock, hardcore techno, and Japanese pop and rock.  I’m pretty familiar with anything that ends up as music in an anime series; for more information on that, go read my anime blog. I usually don’t keep updated on current popular music, unless there’s something compelling.

I played jazz and concert trombone in high school, but I’ve let that fall by the wayside in college. Instead, I’m starting to pick up DJing and producing electronic dance music, especially hardcore techno.

In addition to my musical interests, I’m an advocate for free culture and a participatory model of content creation. Specifically, I’m in favor of reducing the strength of copyright protection to a more reasonable term (I’d say something like 17 years, with the option to renew copyright for an additional 17 years, as opposed to the current term of life +75 years). I feel this would encourage more creative work, thereby enriching our culture and allowing the creation of new content.

Finally, if you really want to know more about me as a person instead of just a faceless source of blog posts, you can read my personal blog or contact me at prototype27@AT@music.DOT.prototype27.DOT.com.
